Perspective
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has shown massive impact in many areas of science and engineering: voice recognition and processing of human language, prediction of trends based on collected data, all the way to self-driving cars. So far, however, the impact of AI in chemical research has been limited. Most recently, a number of large-scale collaborations of pharmaceutical companies with AI companies, established or start-ups, have been announced, which can be taken as an indication that there is progress also in this area of science.
Purpose
This symposium brings together world-experts in the field, who will provide an overview on the status quo of AI in chemical research and an outlook where it is heading to. Key questions for which we will seek answers during the event:
- What were the key advancements in the recent years?
- Where can AI realistically already make significant contributions in chemical research?
- What are the key challenges that need to be solved to make more progress?
Participants
The target audience are computational chemists, cheminformaticians, and chemists who wish to understand how AI will affect design and process in chemistry in the future. Active participation in discussions is highly welcome.
You are kindly invited to this one-day event organized by Syngenta, Novartis, Roche, Idorsia, Lonza, and the Swiss Chemical Society.
